ACT INFORMATION

Dear parents/guardians and students,

ACT is right around the corner! (March 3rd)

For those of you looking to begin preparing, Oshkosh West High School is happy to inform you of an incredible resource available to all OASD students.

The Oshkosh Area School District has provided your child with access to Method Test Prep, an online ACT Test Prep tool that helps students build their math, reading, writing, and SAT/ACT test prep skills.  Access is via a link in the Links and Resources area of students' Xello accounts.

Clicking the link in Xello will set up your child's own account and the course will keep track of all the work he or she has completed.

All juniors will be using this resource during the week of finals to take a practice ACT test in English, Reading, Math and Science in lieu of taking their Math, Sceince and English first semester exams.

Students can listen to math, verbal and writing tutorials and each tutorial is accompanied by a quiz to test student mastery.  The program is highly adaptive and keeps track of a student’s strengths and weaknesses. Students have access to a large pool of practice questions and receive instant feedback upon completion of each question.  This feedback includes easy-to-understand explanations.

Students and parents have seen measurable progress when using Method Test Prep.  Method Test Prep uses proven strategies that are clear and easy to understand for any type of learner.  Method Test Prep is interactive and time efficient. By using internet technology, students are more engaged and their time is focused on areas in need of improvement.

As an additional incentive to prepare for the ACT, juniors who meet a growth goal or score an 18 or above will be exempt from the second semester exam that corresponds with that subject.  More information to follow.

Dear Oshkosh West High School Parent or Guardian,

As part of the Wisconsin State Assessment System, all juniors will be taking the ACT on March 3rd.  This is the same ACT that is normally offered on selected Saturdays throughout the school year, and the score that your student earns on March 3rd may be used to apply to colleges nationwide.  In order to provide the best possible testing conditions for junior students, the Oshkosh Area School District School Board has approved a change in the daily schedule for March 3rd. That schedule is printed below.

  • On March 3rd, students who are in 9th, 10th, or 12th grades should not report for classes.  Students in 11th grade MUST report by 8:12 am in order to begin the ACT exam on time.  They need to bring a school photo ID or driver’s license and pencils.  Students may also bring an ACT-approved calculator. If students do not own their own calculator, West will provide one for them to use.

  • Buses provided by Kobussen will be running their normal routes on March 3rd and Juniors can ride the bus as usual.
