Remember to Vote on the School Referendums Nov. 3rd!

The November 3rd election is not just about our next president and other leaders - it’s also about whether the Oshkosh Area School District will receive continued operational funds and investments in our school buildings.

If voters approve question one, the district will be able to maintain academic programs, technology for learning and student support services - with no tax increase. If voters approve question 2, capital funds would be used to provide safe and accessible schools, flexible and collaborative learning spaces, and cost-effective schools to maximize taxpayer investment. If the referendums are not approved, the district will face millions in budget cuts and continued maintenance of aging buildings without the benefit of important improvements.

Be sure to learn about the two referendum questions (visit and vote on or before November 3rd. Everything you need to find out where, when and how to vote is on the MyVoteWisconsin website.

At this time, the menus for the virtual learning grab and go meals, as well as the in-person learning meals are very fluid and change frequently depending on what items are available to us and labor constraints. At this time, the best place to see the most up to date menu information is our nutri slice website:

Here you will be able to access the virtual learning menu for the meals being distributed at the grab and go sites on Mondays and Thursdays, as well as the menu for any of our in-person learners. This website allows us to quickly update any changes, as well as allows users to see allergen information, nutrition information, and carb counts for menu items, so it is a really useful tool. You are also able to download an app on your phone for the site.

More information on registering for the test will be sent out in early November.  It is possible that 10th grade students will not be eligible to take the test at West this year and that a limited number of students overall will be able to take the test.  It is impossible to predict what the situation will be like with the Covid 19 outbreak, but the health and safety of our students and staff will be priority one.  Thank you for your understanding during these difficult and unpredictable times.

Mental Health Resources Through Rise Up: Mental health and the impact it has on students reaching their full potential is crucial to consider. Since many students report that they struggle to find motivation and/or feel socially isolated as they are attending school in the virtual format, now, perhaps more than ever, mental health support is of extreme importance.

The Oshkosh Area School District has partnered with Catalpa Health and The Samaritan Counseling Center to provide the “Rise Up” program. Through Rise Up, the Connected Community Wellness Screen is provided to all students. Free of charge and completely voluntary, the Wellness Screen is a confidential and nationally recognized screening tool. If there are concerns after students complete the screening, parents/guardians will be contacted and options of available resources will be provided. Due to COVID-19 safety protocols, the Wellness Screen will be administered virtually, and any follow up meetings will also be completed in a virtual format.

Students still have access to counselors through Catalpa Health during the school day, yet these appointments will also be conducted virtually. If you would like more information regarding Catalpa appointments or Wellness Screen, please contact the Rise Up Call Center: (920) 750-7088. You can also feel free to reach out to a member of the West Pupil Services Staff (school social worker, school counselor, or school psychologist) if you would like to learn more about how to get your child connected with either of these options.

In an effort to still track return to school dates for students, we would like you to continue to notify your student's school when they have symptoms or have been a close contact or a household contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID. Please either call 920-424-4090 option 4 or email one of the following:

The LMC Pumpkin Decorating Contest Continues!  It's not too late to join the fun! Click this link for details.

The LMC Team is working to support all students while we are in Model 4. Here are some of the ways we are supporting you:

1. Our LMC Website has a Tech Support Hotline manned by our intern, who responds promptly to requests and questions.

2. The OASD Media Team and Tech Innovators worked together to create this document. It is linked on the LMC Website, was shared on the District Website and emailed to parents and students. Students are very adept at solving device issues by following the tips for Canvas, Chromebooks, Cameras, Microphones, Google Meet, Screencastify, and Kajeets/Mifis.

3. Students are encouraged to email the LMC team for support. When they email us, we typically respond with an email like this:

Thank you for reaching out. Please try the Troubleshooting Steps in this Document that relate to the issue you are having. If these steps don't help, please email me and we will set up a time for Curbside Pickup, where we can swap devices with you following these Curbside Pickup Guidelines.

That’s right! School photos have arrived!!

School Photos can be picked up at Oshkosh West High School Door 24 from 8:30 am – 3:00 pm on Monday, October 19 – Thursday, October 22.

Photos were taken with English classes so please know your English teacher’s name and class period, as that is how the photos are organized. If you are a West High eAcademy student, you will just need to let them know that information.

All students who had their photo taken have something to pick up. You will either have the packet of photos you ordered OR a sample photo and ordering instructions.

We ask that students and/or parents only plan to pick up the photos for your own family. If you would like to give permission for someone other than your family members to pick up your photos, please email IN ADVANCE. Please provide your student’s name, English teacher name and period, and the name of the person you are giving us permission to give your photos to.
