2025-2026 Scheduling Information

Hello Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors!

During the first week of second semester, students will receive important course scheduling information for the 2025-2026 school year. Students will report to their scheduling presentation with their English class January 22-24th.

During this presentation, counselors will provide an overview of the graduation requirements, course sequencing, as well as general admission requirements for four year colleges/universities and technical colleges and will receive a paper copy of a course request sheet for their grade level. All course requests will be due during homeroom on Monday, January 27th. If you wish to begin discussing scheduling with your student in advance, please visit the 2025-2026 West Scheduling; please wait until AFTER the scheduling presentation with counselors to complete course request sheets. Important information will be reviewed at that time.

More detailed information will be provided during the week that scheduling information is presented to students - please watch for an email on Tuesday, January 21st.

Oshkosh Schools Academy: Learn More About Your School District

Do you want to learn more about how the Oshkosh Area School District works? The Oshkosh Schools Academy is a new six-month program designed to give community members an inside look at the district’s mission, priorities, and initiatives. (See FLYER)

Program Details:

Start Date: January 17, 2025
Meeting Dates: One Friday a month from 7:30 - 9 a.m. (OASD Administration Office)
- January 17, February 14, March 14, April 4, May 9, June 13
Topics Covered:
- District operations and governance
- Leadership principles
- Academic priorities (e.g., reading, student wellness)
- Community engagement opportunities

Participants will attend monthly sessions, engage in a book study, and interact directly with district leaders and staff. This is a great way to get involved and make a positive impact on public education in Oshkosh!

How to Apply:

Application Deadline: December 11, 2024
Limited Spots: 20-30 participants. If more than 30 apply, selections will be made randomly.
Those not selected will be placed on the waiting list for the 2025-2026 program.

OASD K-12 eAcademy Mid-Year Enrollment Now Open!

This is an opportunity for K-12 students to enroll in the district’s free, full-time online schooling for the second semester.

Enrollment Period: Open through January 8 at 11:59 PM.
Application: Available via Infinite Campus.
Notification: Families will be notified by January 15. Approval decisions made by the student's building principal.
K-8 Families: Mandatory in-person orientation for new elementary and middle school students on January 21 (daytime and evening options). More details to come.

From the Attendance Office

ATTENDANCE PROCEDURES

Appointments/leaving building options:

Infinite Campus (IC) Parent Portal - You can submit preplanned absence request online!
- In IC go under More > Absence Request.
  - Please make sure to fill out all the fields with your information so we can accurately mark your student's attendance.
  - Please allow us a minimum of 1 hour notice if your student needs to leave the building early so we have time to locate your student.
Send note with student - should be brought to Student Services before appointment to get a pass.
Call in advance - If leaving voicemail, please let us know student’s name, reason for leaving and from which door you will pick student up. Call (920) 424-4090 x4 or (920) 424-4070.
Email - you are welcome to email us for excused absences. Please email kelsey.gates@oshkosh.k12.wi.us and marcia.gonzalez@oshkosh.k12.wi.us.

Note - we are often busy on phones or helping students, so if it’s a last minute request, a call is probably the best option. We check voicemails often.

Student Services will write a pass for the student to leave and will have it delivered to the student during one of the classes before the time they are to leave. Students can leave out of Door 38 (in front by flagpole) or Door 24 (gym doors) ONLY, please let us know which door to mark on the pass. The student must sign out on the kiosk at the specified door and can leave the building.

If your student is returning from an appointment, or arriving late, they MUST sign in at either door on the kiosk so we can update attendance. They can return through either Door 24 and Door 38.

If there is an appointment that comes up with short notice, please let us know ASAP, it sometimes takes a bit to locate students and get them a pass to leave.

Safety Information

In order to ensure the safety of our students and staff, all guests at Oshkosh West High School need to have an appointment to enter the building. Guests must bring a photo ID which will be scanned upon entrance. Guests are encouraged to park in the street parking on Eagle Street across from the school and enter Door 38. If parking is full, guests may park in the visitor spaces in the large lot at the corner of Taft and Eagle Streets and enter Door 24.
Did you know...West has over 100 cameras inside and outside of our school, so most of the time, if we get a report about something taking place, we are able to use the camera video recordings to get to the bottom of things. The cameras inside the building are located in halls and common areas like the cafeterias and gyms. We encourage students and parents to report anything that might be concerning. We do take anonymous reports as well, so if you don't feel comfortable leaving your name, that is fine. We always investigate tips and reports that come to us.
Speak Up, Speak Out Tipline: Created by the Wisconsin Department of Justice, students, parents, school staff, or any community member can anonymously submit a school safety concern or threat. SUSO resource center staff work around-the-clock to respond to tips and deploy a response locally by communicating directly with school administrators and law enforcement. Once you submit your tip, please keep the chat window open to answer any questions the resource center specialist might have for you to get more actionable information for school administration or police.
