Important End of Year Information from our Health Office

From the Health Office

All medications are to be picked up by the parent/guardian or permission given to send
home with your student, on or before the last day of school. Our policy will not allow
us to keep them for the next school year.

If your child has a current health plan or emergency plan on file with the school, you will
receive a copy during the summer to update for the upcoming school year.

If your child has a change in their health or has a healthcare need at school, please
contact our school district nurse, Stefanie Rebholz via email during the summer and she
will contact you at the beginning of the school year to discuss.

If your child will need to take medication at school, please work with your doctor to have
the following form completed and signed before the start of the school year. As a
reminder, the directions on the medication bottle must match the written order on the
medication request form.

If you have a child with a severe allergy and/or asthma, or seizures the following forms
will need to be completed for our school nurse. Inhalers, Epi-Pens, Allergy medications,
etc., must be in their original containers. Expiration dates will be monitored.

12th Grade Immunization Requirement

If your child will be in 12th grade during the 2025/2026 school year, we need to have dates
of two ACWY-containing meningitis vaccines, unless the first dose was given after your
child was 16 years old. Parents may sign a personal conviction or religious waiver for these
meningitis vaccines, just as they may for other vaccinations, or have a medical waiver
signed by a healthcare practitioner. Immunization Form

Japan Trip Information - July 14-22, 2026

We are excited to announce a STEM focused trip to Japan in July 14-22 of 2026. The trip is open to all students that are currently in grades 7-11. There will be an informational meeting at Vel Phillips Middle School at 6:00 pm on Thursday, May 29. Updated Immunization Requirements

Dear Families and Caregivers,

Wisconsin has updated its immunization requirements for child care and school entry. The changes for school entry went into effect for the 2024/2025 school year. Therefore, if you have a child entering our school district for the first time in the 2025/26 school year and your child does not need the varicella vaccine because they had chicken pox disease you will need to have a healthcare provider (MD, PA, or NP) sign the verification of disease form on the immunization record.

If your child will be in 7th grade for the 2025/2026 school year, our school district is collecting the date of their Meningitis vaccines, particularly the one containing ACWY antigens. This would be called MenQuadfi TN, Menveo®, or Menactra® on your child’s immunization record. You can print off a copy of their immunization record from the Wisconsin Immunization Registry (WIR).

2025-26 Enrollment/Registration is Now Open!

Get Ready for the 2025-26 School Year!

The Oshkosh Area School District’s Annual Student Update (Enrollment/Registration) for returning K-12 students and for new 4K students will take place April 1 - September 1, 2025. Students must be enrolled by September 1. While the deadline is September 1, we encourage you to complete this process as soon as possible to secure your child's spot for the next school year.

Your child’s school for the 2025-2026 school year will be listed in IC. If you have recently moved or if you were involuntarily transferred due to space limitations at your home school, please be sure to check this as it may be different from where your child is currently attending.

This annual enrollment process is mandatory, and your student's place at their school will be reserved for the upcoming academic year. You'll update your demographic and contact information through the Infinite Campus (IC) Parent Portal.

ATTENDANCE PROCEDURES

Appointments/leaving building options:

Infinite Campus (IC) Parent Portal - You can submit preplanned absence request online!
- In IC go under More > Absence Request.
  - Please make sure to fill out all the fields with your information so we can accurately mark your student's attendance.
  - Please allow us a minimum of 1 hour notice if your student needs to leave the building early so we have time to locate your student.
Send note with student - should be brought to Student Services before appointment to get a pass.
Call in advance - If leaving voicemail, please let us know student’s name, reason for leaving and from which door you will pick student up. Call (920) 424-4090 x4 or (920) 424-4070.
Email - you are welcome to email us for excused absences. Please email kelsey.gates@oshkosh.k12.wi.us and marcia.gonzalez@oshkosh.k12.wi.us.

Note - we are often busy on phones or helping students, so if it’s a last minute request, a call is probably the best option. We check voicemails often.

Student Services will write a pass for the student to leave and will have it delivered to the student during one of the classes before the time they are to leave. Students can leave out of Door 38 (in front by flagpole) or Door 24 (gym doors) ONLY, please let us know which door to mark on the pass. The student must sign out on the kiosk at the specified door and can leave the building.

If your student is returning from an appointment, or arriving late, they MUST sign in at either door on the kiosk so we can update attendance. They can return through either Door 24 and Door 38.

If there is an appointment that comes up with short notice, please let us know ASAP, it sometimes takes a bit to locate students and get them a pass to leave.

Safety Information

In order to ensure the safety of our students and staff, all guests at Oshkosh West High School need to have an appointment to enter the building. Guests must bring a photo ID which will be scanned upon entrance. Guests are encouraged to park in the street parking on Eagle Street across from the school and enter Door 38. If parking is full, guests may park in the visitor spaces in the large lot at the corner of Taft and Eagle Streets and enter Door 24.
Did you know...West has over 100 cameras inside and outside of our school, so most of the time, if we get a report about something taking place, we are able to use the camera video recordings to get to the bottom of things. The cameras inside the building are located in halls and common areas like the cafeterias and gyms. We encourage students and parents to report anything that might be concerning. We do take anonymous reports as well, so if you don't feel comfortable leaving your name, that is fine. We always investigate tips and reports that come to us.
Speak Up, Speak Out Tipline: Created by the Wisconsin Department of Justice, students, parents, school staff, or any community member can anonymously submit a school safety concern or threat. SUSO resource center staff work around-the-clock to respond to tips and deploy a response locally by communicating directly with school administrators and law enforcement. Once you submit your tip, please keep the chat window open to answer any questions the resource center specialist might have for you to get more actionable information for school administration or police.
