Families- Please remember that we cannot have food delivered to the school for your child during the school day. We have had an uptick of students getting food delivered to the door throughout the day. There is a possibility that it will not be given to them if this is an ongoing issue after reminders. Parent Advisory Meeting - 5:00-6:00

While our teachers are hosting parent/teacher conferences the OWHS Administration would like to host a Parent Advisory Meeting with any parent interested in coming to the school to ask questions of the new team or provide feedback.

The meeting will take place from 5:00-6:00 pm on Monday, November 25th, in the Innovation Lab at West High School. This month's focus will be a meet and greet of new administrators, and a time for general feedback. In future months we will have scheduled advisory meetings with specific agenda items. There is no need to RSVP, please join us if you are able!

Badger Girls and Boys State Conference Representation Opportunity

Oshkosh West is looking for 2 girls and 2 boys to represent Oshkosh West at Badger Girls and Badger Boys State Conferences June of 2025. The main purpose is to develop leadership skills, instill pride as American citizens, to educate citizens about our system of government, to instill a greater understanding of American traditions, and to stimulate a desire to maintain the democratic government process. To be eligible you must be enrolled in the junior year of high school and be interested in government and citizenship.

ASVAB Test Sign up for students interested in the military!

Hello parents/guardians of sophomores, juniors, & seniors -

If your student is considering military service in their future, they will need to complete the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) Test before enlisting in a military branch. The ASVAB is a multiple choice test, administered by the United States Military, used to determine qualification for enlistment in the United States Armed Forces.

Generally, students need to drive to Milwaukee with a military recruiter to complete this test. However, we will be offering this test at Oshkosh West on Wednesday, March 12th at noon in room G11. This is a great opportunity to complete this test and see which military careers students will qualify for without needing to drive to Milwaukee. Scores will NOT be released to military recruiters unless students share them.

There are limited spaces available for this test - it is first come, first serve for sign up. If your student is hoping to enlist in the military after high school, to sign up for this test, please email Mrs. Holdorf in the Counseling office (andrea.holdorf@oshkosh.k12.wi.us).

ATTENDANCE PROCEDURES

Appointments/leaving building options:

Infinite Campus (IC) Parent Portal - You can submit preplanned absence request online!
- In IC go under More > Absence Request.
  - Please make sure to fill out all the fields with your information so we can accurately mark your student's attendance.
  - Please allow us a minimum of 1 hour notice if your student needs to leave the building early so we have time to locate your student.
Send note with student - should be brought to Student Services before appointment to get a pass.
Call in advance - If leaving voicemail, please let us know student’s name, reason for leaving and from which door you will pick student up. Call (920) 424-4090 x4 or (920) 424-4070.
Email - you are welcome to email us for excused absences. Please email kelsey.gates@oshkosh.k12.wi.us and marcia.gonzalez@oshkosh.k12.wi.us.

Note - we are often busy on phones or helping students, so if it’s a last minute request, a call is probably the best option. We check voicemails often.

Student Services will write a pass for the student to leave and will have it delivered to the student during one of the classes before the time they are to leave. Students can leave out of Door 38 (in front by flagpole) or Door 24 (gym doors) ONLY, please let us know which door to mark on the pass. The student must sign out on the kiosk at the specified door and can leave the building.

If your student is returning from an appointment, or arriving late, they MUST sign in at either door on the kiosk so we can update attendance. They can return through either Door 24 and Door 38.

If there is an appointment that comes up with short notice, please let us know ASAP, it sometimes takes a bit to locate students and get them a pass to leave.

Safety Information

In order to ensure the safety of our students and staff, all guests at Oshkosh West High School need to have an appointment to enter the building. Guests must bring a photo ID which will be scanned upon entrance. Guests are encouraged to park in the street parking on Eagle Street across from the school and enter Door 38. If parking is full, guests may park in the visitor spaces in the large lot at the corner of Taft and Eagle Streets and enter Door 24.
Did you know...West has over 100 cameras inside and outside of our school, so most of the time, if we get a report about something taking place, we are able to use the camera video recordings to get to the bottom of things. The cameras inside the building are located in halls and common areas like the cafeterias and gyms. We encourage students and parents to report anything that might be concerning. We do take anonymous reports as well, so if you don't feel comfortable leaving your name, that is fine. We always investigate tips and reports that come to us.
Speak Up, Speak Out Tipline: Created by the Wisconsin Department of Justice, students, parents, school staff, or any community member can anonymously submit a school safety concern or threat. SUSO resource center staff work around-the-clock to respond to tips and deploy a response locally by communicating directly with school administrators and law enforcement. Once you submit your tip, please keep the chat window open to answer any questions the resource center specialist might have for you to get more actionable information for school administration or police.
