Newsletter Week of March 16, 2020
ACT ASPIRE & WISCONSIN FORWARD EXAMS
Grade 9 and 10 students at West will participate in the Wisconsin Student Assessment System during the month of April. 9th and 10th Grade students will take either the ACT Aspire or Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) for students with disabilities needing an alternative assessment. The ACT Aspire and DLM are written to specifically measure student progress toward mastery of the Wisconsin Standards in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics. In addition, 10th Grade students will take the Wisconsin Forward Exam, which measures student progress in Social Studies. Under state and federal accountability requirements, every school is expected to test every student in the assessed grades. Please make every effort to have your child in attendance on all testing dates. Click here for more information regarding these days.
Bell schedule for April 14th & 15th
DIGITAL LEARNING DAYS - April 14-15
Just like we did on the day that juniors took the ACT, on the two mornings of ACT Aspire testing, students will be provided with digital lessons to complete on their Chromebooks. A more detailed schedule for these dates is included under the ACT Aspire information above, but only students in grades 9 and 10 will be required to report to school for the MORNING of April 14-15. ALL students will report for classes each afternoon. During that morning time, teachers will be providing digital lessons. Juniors and seniors who would like to do this work at school or who need the internet access will be provided with a supervised space to do this. Please watch for more detailed information!
ARMED SERVICE VOCATIONAL APTITUDE BATTERY(ASVAB)
The morning of April 14th, while the freshmen and sophomores are taking the ACT Aspire, any juniors or seniors who would like to take the ASVAB at West will have the opportunity to do so. The testing will be held in the computer lab in C20 and will begin at 8:30 am. The test takes approximately 2.5 hours and then the representative will be able to go over the test results with the students after they are finished that morning. Please sign up in the counseling office by Thursday, April 9th.
